Birth Records Registrar

Birth records registrars are the offices that house and protect official birth documents. Each birth records registrar serves a particular county, parish, or borough of the United States. It is responsible for the documents on every birth that has happened under its jurisdiction.

These offices are also known as state vital records offices. These offices are not only expected to house and protect documents, but also to fulfill requests from citizens for copies of their own birth documents. As you can imagine, this adds up to a full slate of work for every vital records office.

Dealing with Birth Records Registrars

If you need a certified copy of your birth certificate, you will in some way end up dealing with the birth records registrar. This may be done directly or indirectly. It all depends on which way you go about your request.

For example, if you go the old-fashioned route, and apply directly to the registrar of the county or parish in which you were born. They will then send your birth certificate to you, which could take anywhere from days to months to receive. However, online services offer an alternative to the long waits. All you do is apply online, and they take care of the rest.
