Kansas Birth Record

Kansas birth records can be delivered to you as a certified copy of your birth certificate. It's important to get a certified copy, rather than a non-certified copy, because certified copies provide unquestionable proof of your identity. Non-certified copies are created mainly for reference purposes, but not to be used as an official form of identification.

Believe it or not, both certified and non-certified copies of Kansas birth records are requested, and the state can provide either. It's just up to you to specify which you need when you fill out the request form. These forms are necessarily detailed and exacting, for the state needs to be certain that birth certificates are delivered only to the people who should have them.

Who May Access Kansas Birth Records

Who should have copies of birth certificates? The answer is simple: every person should have on hand a copy of their own birth certificate, without question. Other people who are permitted to have copies of a birth certificate are the parents of spouse of the person named on the certificate, or their designated legal representative.

Other than that, the rules are strict so that no one may just obtain a copy of your Kansas birth record, nor anyone else's. This is sensitive, privileged and confidential information. This is why once you have your birth records delivered to you, you should store them very carefully and conscientiously to ensure that not only do you not misplace them, but also so that no one could get ahold of them who shouldn't.
