New birth certificates are created every time a baby is born in any state or commonwealth of the United States of America. Interestingly enough, however, this is not the only occasion where a such a birth certificate can come into existence. There are actually a few other situations under which new birth certificates may be obtained.

In some states, birth certificate applications are made for people whose births were never registered. Although unusual, this can and does happen once in a while. Sometimes babies born overseas to American parents don't get a birth certificate right away.

Other Reasons for the Creation of New Birth Certificates

New birth certificates are also routinely created in cases of adoption. In addition, in matters of legitimation and adjudication of paternity, a birth certificate may be created. These are cases in which new information has come to light regarding the parenthood of the person in question.

There are some people who, due to extenuating circumstances possibly including those listed above, wait until adulthood before obtaining a copy of their birth certificate for the first time. No matter what your age or where your road in life has brought you, it's never too late to obtain a copy of your birth certificate. Best of all, this can be done more quickly and conveniently than ever before!
