Oregon Birth Record

Oregon birth record turnaround times are normally only three to five business days. This is an unusually quick turnaround period, especially when compared to those of other states. Some states take up to eight weeks to get birth certificate copies to the people who request them!

Of course, many things vary from state to state because, to some extent, local governments will do things their own way. One thing that all local vital records offices have in common, though, is concern for security. That's why access to birth records is restricted to the person listed on the birth certificate, their immediate family, and often their legal representative.

The Importance of Obtaining Copies of Your Oregon Birth Record

Why are Oregon birth records so important? Everyone, no matter what state they were born in, should have a certified copy of their birth certificate readily available. It's just silly not to. This is your identification, your welfare at stake, and thus you should have the tools you need in your hands.

For example, what if you lose your proof of driver's license? That is a vital piece of personal identification that you'll need for many transactions, that will need to be replaced immediately ... but it's impossible to do so without a copy of your birth certificate! One piece of primary identification requires another piece of primary identification for replacement. This is just one example of the importance of having your Oregon birth records on hand for emergencies.
