Personal Defense ProductsWritten by Jeremy Horelick Personal defense products can come to your rescue if you're ever accosted by an attacker. Rather than submit to bodily harm or robbery, you can fight back with any number of countermeasures designed to scare off or incapacitate your assailant. Of course, it goes without saying that, given the choice between your valuables and your life, it's best to relinquish whatever money or jewelry you have. As great as many personal defense products are, they're simply not designed to stop bullets. Ideally, personal defense products are deployed before a confrontation takes place. But it can be hard to gauge threats sometimes, especially if you've been the victim of an attack in the past. You may naturally distrust strangers you'd previously never think twice about. Most assault prevention experts agree that this is only natural. The best advice to follow, then, is to be as vigilant as possible without turning paranoid. The average passerby on the street wants as little to do with you as you do with them. Types of Personal Defense ProductsThe personal defense products industry has witnessed a steady rise over the years as people's perceptions of danger continue to evolve. This has led product manufacturers to release devices from personal alarms to high-impact stun guns and other potent measures even more widely than before. You can now walk into most drug stores and purchase a pocket alarm for a few dollars. And while such a measure is far from foolproof, it can create enough of a spectacle to ward off evildoers and call for help. For several dollars more, you can also buy eye and lung irritants in canister form. Many people opt to keep these units attached to their keychains, then walk with their keys out (whether heading for their car, house, or office, or just down the street). Still, keeping a steady watch on your environment is the best way to avoid a confrontation. Let common sense be your guide when traveling, and you'll likely never need to use your personal defense products at all.
