Lock-out Tools

People lock themselves out of cars, homes, offices, desks, filing cabinets, storage areas--you name it. Probably everyone carries a key ring with several keys on it. When a key is lost, or broken off in a lock, or locked inside a car, it is always an inconvenience. Often, it creates a dangerous situation.

Lock-out tools are specialized locksmith tools used to gain entry into a car without a key, and with minimum damage. If the door lock is damaged during entry, the owner will have the expense of repairing or replacing it. Auto keyless entry has become more complicated as modern car manufacturers have installed more sophisticated anti-theft features.

Modern Auto Keyless Entry

Slim Jims were, and still are, fine and simple tools for older cars. But power systems and side air bags have made them a high risk tool for newer cars. The problem is, most current cars have high security locks that normally can't be picked unless changes are made to the lock. Auto keyless entry allows professionals to open a car door without a key.

That often leaves some kind of manipulation inside the door. This necessity has lead to the development of various wedges, handles and couplings, and rods. Almost every car needs a different device to open it. Auto keyless entry is a modern specialty. Bent rods are common, but the bends are complicated. Lately, fold-up versions of Slim Jims have become available.
