Being a member of the United States Coast Guard means you have sacrificed for your country, but also there are very favorable financial rewards available to you. There are excellent Coast Guard loan programs, airfare discounts, and GI Bill benefits, just to name a few, available to members of the Guard. These programs are offered through military banking companies that are able to operate in the safe and stable environment that is America, which is made possible by the hard work of American servicemen, and they are anxious to show you their appreciation.

While many of these programs are government run, such as the repayment of student loans, there are also hundreds of companies across America competing for military business. This has led to ever more favorable terms on financial agreements between companies and service members, and more and more benefit programs are being created every day.

Coast Guard Loan Repayment for Veterans

You do not need to be a current member of the Armed services to take advantage of these programs. Most of these offers are extended to veterans as well. For example, once somebody has fulfilled his or her Coast Guard commitment, they may look to settle down and purchase a home. They would then be eligible to apply for a VA home loan, which, in effect, "loans" government credit to veterans seeking a mortgage. They would only need to fill out some paper work with the VA, and once approved they can apply for a loan with any Veterans Administration sanctioned lender.

So, the borrowing benefits of being in the guard are considerable, but it is up to the individual soldier to make sure they have found the right Coast Guard loan repayment program to fit their needs, so do your research, and good luck. There are many programs available, all you have to do is find them.
