Navy Aid

Once you have completed your enlistment requirements, there are a number of Navy aid programs you might be eligible for. Of course the most well-known of these programs is the Montgomery GI Bill, which is in place to make sure that all former service members have the ability to go to college. But the Navy is a special branch, and it is through their contributions that America is able to dominate the world's oceans. This requires a highly skilled and technically proficient workforce, and it is recognized that there needs to be additional recruiting incentives in place for the Navy. Therefore, the Navy College Fund has been created to provide funding above and beyond what the GI Bill provides.

However, Navy aid programs are not just limited to assisting seamen in going to college. No, there are a multitude of services that have been put in place to reward veterans for their contributions. For example, the VA has a long and proud tradition of providing America's vets with affordable health care for the duration of their lives.

Another great Navy aid program is the retirement packages available to career officers. This is a multi-tiered system, with greater benefits doled out for longer terms of service. One of the most popular routes taken is to serve for 20 years and retire with a lifetime of half-pay. This allows these often highly skilled men and women to start new careers in their late 30s, where they would likely be able to garner additional retirement benefits in the private sector, allowing them to bring in a comfortable income during their golden years.
