Cargo Securing Products

Cargo securing products are important barriers against the too-common crime of supply chain theft. After manufactures make, package, and load cargo, they ship it . . . sometimes all the way around the world. At any time during its trip to its final destination--a warehouse, store, or your home--anyone can tamper with it or steal it.

Cargo Securing Products Make Thieves Think Twice

In-transit theft is difficult for shippers and importers to monitor; they just write off a certain percentage of their operating costs to theft. Thieves who skim a little off the top--and don't get caught--will continue to do so, and if the company expects them to, they might even do it more. Some cargo securing products make it harder for them, though.

A pallet cover is an example of a simple security device that not only protects goods from the elements, but from thieves, too. By covering an entire pallet, no individual box is vulnerable; the thief will have to break the seal--and reveal his crime. While it's possible to carefully uncover a pallet, pilfer from it, and then reseal it without detection, pilfer indicating security tapes prevent this option.

There are other simple cargo securing products that are just as effective. Tamper evident sealing tape reveals a hidden message after it's been cut, warning both shippers and receivers that someone recently stole. This lets a potential customer know that a package was tampered with, and lets the courier know where there is a weak link in the supply chain.
