Id AccessoriesWritten by Michael Federico The use of ID cards has greatly increased in recent years as new technology has allowed them to serve several functions. A card can now work as a security measure, a time clock, and an onsite debit card. More uses for a card means that more accessories can come with it. Many of the classic accessories such as lanyards and badge reels are still available, but they have been updated to fit the times. Heavy-duty badge reels can be found that are perfect for people who have to carry membership IDs while skiing, rock climbing, or engaging in any other extreme sport. Lanyards can now be used as marketing tools while they hold an ID. A company or school can have its name or logo printed on a lanyard at a very low cost. There are also "disinfectable" lanyards that are perfect for hospitals and doctors' offices. Other ID AccessoriesThere are a number of accessories that allow a business to handle all of its ID printing needs in-house. Digital printers, including several Fargo models, have security printing capabilities, which means IDs can be created that use holographic overlays, gradient screens, micro printing, or image ghosting. These techniques make duplication difficult, so employee IDs will be far more secure than those that simply use photos. ID accessories for personal use can be purchased inexpensively from a number of companies. There are different ID key chains, badge holders, and badge clips that make it easier to keep track of an ID while traveling. Many of these items can be quickly attached to luggage or to gym bags for those who have trouble holding onto their membership cards. Most simple accessories come in a number of colors and designs, so people (especially students) can bring a bit of individuality to the badges they are required to wear.
