Id Badge SystemsWritten by Michael Federico ID badge systems are made up of card design software packages, PVC card printers, digital or video cameras, and basic PCs. Some systems will require more specific needs. For instance, certain types of ID software will only work with a Pentium class PC that has Windows installed. Some cameras will also require the use of a video imaging board when transferring photos to the computer. The equipment needed to set up a badge system can be found through specialty services. Often, the money it takes to set up an onsite system will be far less than the money it would take to continually employ the use of a professional printer to create ID badges. Also, having the system in the office allows a company to create and maintain a secure database containing employee and access information. When badges are created elsewhere, there is no way to guarantee that information will remain protected. ID Badge Systems for Small OfficesMany small companies have begun to require their employees to wear ID badges. Although some people object to the process, it actually does make things safer in the building. A person cannot simply wander in. There are ID badge systems that are inexpensive and incredibly easy to use. Printers are small enough to fit on a desk, and only have to be turned on in order to work. These systems are designed specifically for offices that do not have large ID needs, and they can save small offices a lot of money on printing and security.
