Id LabelsWritten by Serena Berger If your company frequently receives visitors, you may already be using a system by which guests must sign into the building. This is often the case if your offices are located in high rise buildings, where it is common for a security desk in the lobby to announce visitors to the various offices. Similar systems are employed in schools, where visitors must sign in--usually in the main office--before proceeding. Depending on your line of work, you may be content with blank ID labels on which visitors can write their names. If, however, you are preparing for a conference with several clients, it may be worthwhile to have names pre-printed onto ID labels to provide a professional appearance. A little extra preparation time on your part can leave a lasting impression on your clients. Expiration Dates on ID LabelsOne issue with ID labels and other guest passes is that many do not have a visible expiration date. On most guest passes, there is a blank line where the employee issuing the pass can write out when it expires. It can be difficult for security personnel to see an expiration date when a visitor simply waves the pass while walking past, which means some people can sneak back in when they're no longer welcome. If your business needs to ensure that only authorized visitors are in your building, you may want to issue passes that more clearly display an expiration date. Employees can then quickly ascertain if there are unauthorized visitors and report them to security without needing to get up close to scrutinize the pass. Something as simple as expiring ID labels can provide your staff with added piece of mind without offending your visitors.
