Basic digital cameras can be effective photo ID cameras. The majority of digital cameras on the market will interact with ID software and ID printers. As long as pictures can be transferred from the camera to the computer, there should not be a problem. However, there are certain printers that perform advanced ID applications. These printers might only work with specific types of cameras, so when setting up a complex ID system it is important to make sure that all of the components can function together. Also, there may be accessories such as connection wires that will be required to hook up one unit of a system to the other units.

It is even possible to use a video camera for photo IDs. However, when using most video cameras, a video imaging board will be required as well. Both types of camera can produce high quality photos for IDs, but going digital tends to make the process a little easier.

What Can Photo ID Cameras Do?

When a photo ID camera is used in conjunction with an ID printer and ID software, a number of options become available to the user. The image from the camera can be reproduced in a semi-transparent form to allow for image ghosting. This is an effective security measure used on many ID cards.

When looking for a camera that will be used specifically for ID photos, it is often best to deal with a company that specializes in ID products. They can work with a client to find a camera that best fits the client's needs. They will take into account the number of IDs it will be used for over a certain amount of time, and they will also consider what type of software and printer the camera will be interacting with.
