Security Check SystemsWritten by Serena Berger Security check systems serve not only as a means to stop potential intruders from entering your building, but also as a deterrent for those that might consider trying to gain access. Additionally, security systems also make employees feel safer in their workplace. If your employees tend to work long hours, security measures are essential for giving them piece of mind after many of their co-workers have left for the night. Issuing ID credentials to your employees is only one part of a security check system. You may want to require that they display their ID badges at all times, so that unauthorized visitors are quickly identified and reported to security. While employees might perceive it as something of an inconvenience, it should be made clear that any perceived hassle pales in comparison to the risk you run if you do not have a security system. A good way to differentiate between visitors and employees is by issuing expiring badges to visitors. These IDs, which change color after a certain period of time, make it easy to identify anyone who has over stayed their welcome. Protecting People and InformationWhile your company might not have sensitive materials on hand, you may be sharing a building with other companies that have materials warranting a higher level of security. Confidentiality agreements exist not only for lawyers and doctors, but also for any companies that work with data from their clients. Minimizing concerns that anyone can walk into a building off the street and access files and records is a priority for all companies. The primary intent of security systems, of course, is to ensure that people are safe. A thorough system should log the entry and exit of employees, as well as keeping track of visitors to the building. This should include not only the time of their arrival, but also whom they were visiting and potentially the nature of their visit, as well.
