Security ProductsWritten by Serena Berger Anyone who watches the news is likely to be concerned with growing security threats in many areas of our daily lives. Many fear that there is nothing that can be done to combat the escalating concerns about danger in the workplace, among other locations. Rather than being party to this line of thinking, you can become an individual who introduces security products that enable you to take an active role in ensuring the safety of employees and visitors. Being able to identify people who do not belong in a building, whether it be an office building or a school, is a step towards increasing the safety of the occupants. This does not require a magical sense of intuition, but rather simple procedures that can be implemented with little training. While IDs alone do not constitute a thorough security system, there are forms of visitor identification that are quite effective as deterrents for uninvited guests. Simple Security MeasuresMany schools and offices require that guests sign in and display visitor passes so that unauthorized visitors can be easily identified by the security staff. This can be as simple as recording a name in a log and issuing a pass. You have to be careful, however, because you don't want a pass for one day to provide unlimited access for the future. Security products are available that change in appearance so that the expiration of a guest pass is quite evident. At the end of the day, while you might not be able to collect all the passes that were issued, if you issue passes that expire they become useless to someone who would try to reuse them. Though they are simple, these and other expiring products can provide an extra degree of assurance that you are allowing only authorized visitors into buildings.
