Tamper Evident Closure

Tamper evident closures are ways of sealing boxes and packages so that the recipient can be sure that no one has opened the box during transit. Many hands touch a package after the person who seals it sends it off; any of those hands could easily remove the tape and then remove goods, too. While it's too late to do anything if you've already accepted the pilfered boxes, using a tamper evident closure at least points out that it has happened.

Tamper Evident Closures Provide Visual Proof

Imagine running downstairs to receive a long-awaited package; you sign for it, thank the delivery guy, and turn back inside as he leaves. Before you know it, he's gone--just as you realize that something is missing from your package. Even if you call the delivery company, it's no use: you've signed your name and accepted the goods.

On the other hand, if you had used a tamper evident closure, you'd have a way of knowing that the box was opened before the courier even left: this type of security packaging shows when there's been foul play. Some tapes reveal a hidden word--"open"--a few hours after the tape has been cut, and others leave behind messages when the tape is removed. Either way, you'll see something has happened.

Having visual confirmation that something is amiss with your package means you can say something then, before the courier leaves. More importantly, you can say something before you sign your name next to the box that waives the responsibility of the delivery company. Tapes, seals, and closures of this sort are a small price to pay for additional level of security that they provide.
