Visitor Ids

Using visitor IDs can be a very simple way for a business to increase customer service and client relations. Whether people want to admit it or not, they generally act differently in an office setting if they know a visitor is on the premises. A visitor badge can instantly signal to employees that there is a guest in the office and that they should act accordingly.

Security is another, perhaps more important, feature that visitor badges can offer a business. Not only will the badge draw attention to someone who is not an employee, it can be encoded so that security personnel will know exactly how many visitors are in the building at any specific time. These cards will transfer that information, but will not have the ability to open secured doors.

Using Barcodes for Visitor IDs

Barcodes are one of the cheapest security measures that can be used on an ID card. When swiped through a reader, it will be clear to those doing the monitoring that a visitor has entered the building. Barcodes are great for companies that do not have a large amount of money to spend on security matters. However, barcodes can be duplicated without much trouble, so they are not recommended for high security areas.

If a company is extremely concerned about theft, they can deter visitors from accessing certain areas by making their employee ID cards more secure. Employee identification badges can be encoded with access codes and numbers that visitor IDs do not possess. This means that to go anywhere beyond a certain point, a visitor will have to be with an employee who has clearance.
