The F22 Raptor was introduced in 1997 as a replacement aircraft for the F-15 Eagle. It combines the best of covert capabilities found in the "stealth" line of planes, with the handling and versatility of the modern day fighter jets. It is capable of traveling at speeds in excess of mach 1.8. This plane is currently undergoing extensive training and testing at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The F22 Raptor is a single crew jet that is equipped with air-to-air missiles, a Gatling canon and sidewinder missiles. This jet is the future of air power and air superiority. Part of what makes this a "stealth" aircraft is it's onboard technology that allows it to track, identify and engage enemy targets. This is what officials at Lockheed Martin, the company who makes the Raptor, call "first look, first shot, first kill" capabilities.
