Giving out awards in an educational environment is a great way to reward excellence and motivate teachers as well as students. Many times schools designate an area to display awards won by their faculty and students. This area is a source of pride for the school. While schools often display the trophies won by their various sports teams, they also set aside walls space for award plaques.

Award Plaques Designed for the Educational Community

Plaques can be customized for any occasion, but recently companies have formed that specialize in creating awards specifically for educators. While there are many different types of awards you can give, an award plaque is a traditional way to recognize achievement. Because they have long been given to acknowledge excellence, they carry with them a certain aura of prestige.

Educational plaques come in various shapes and sizes. The most popular shape however is rectangular. They are mostly made from wood, granite or marble and usually have a brass plate for engraving. In order to distinguish a regular award plaque from an educational plaque several companies manufacture plaques with symbolic representations engraved or affixed on them that relate to education. For example, an educational plaque might have a lamp of knowledge attached to it or possibly a brass hand bell.

Depending on the intricacy of the design and how many educational elements the plaque has, an award plaque can be found for under $20 or over $150. The more expensive plaques are often the ones that recognize more than one person and have multiple name plates. There is a lot of variety, so the appropriate plaque for any occasion is available.
