Fishing Trophies

If you've even been caught telling a fishing story, you probably hesitated for a moment when you were asked how big your catch was. The "It was this big!" story is one of the biggest eye-rollers in the pantheon of tall tales, since most fisherman are prone to exaggerate--even if only a little bit. If you want people to believe how big your catch was, you're going to have to create some lasting proof to back up your tall tale.

Fishing Trophies

The most obvious way to cement your place in fishing history is to capture a photograph of your big wiggling prize. You'll want to make sure you're in the picture as well, since otherwise people might think you're showing a still shot from the most recent Bassmasters Championship. But once you have your photo, it's not enough to just fold it up and carry it around in your pocket.

Mounting a favorite fishing photo on a plaque is a great way to immortalize your big moment. Many companies offer plaques where you can mount your photo below an actual stuffed version of the fish that you caught. It's not really a "stuffed fish," but rather a reproduction that is made to look like that type of fish. You can even specify the dimensions of the fish, so people can see first-hand just how big it really was.

For fishing tournaments, there are some great trophies made with a fishing theme that can be given out to the winners. You can get trophies with bronzed fish statuettes on top--some manufacturers even offer statuettes designed to look like specific kinds of fish. This type of trophy is another great way to help a champion fisherman celebrate his big day out on the water.
