Clocks are traditional if ironic gifts for retirement, considering that when someone retires they have a lot more time on their hands. Still, an elegant desk clock or clock plaque is a lovely gift. These clocks can be proudly displayed in a home office and each time they check the time they will be reminded of their co-workers.

There are a variety of different desk clocks available in the marketplace. One can be found to suit any taste from modern to traditional. For those who appreciate more modern things, a glass or metal desk clock might be best. But for those who are more traditional and conservative, a polished wood clock in oak, cherry or mahogany is a popular favorite. These clocks can all be engraved for a nominal charge if any.

Retirement Clocks for Teachers

There are clock designs that are made especially for educators and would make a great gift for a retiring teacher. A clock that is inlaid into a sculpted apple is a great gift. These apple clocks can be made from crystal, marble or wood and they can all be personalized with a special engraving. They are available on a wooden base or stand-alone.

Another way to design a clock especially for a teacher is to have the school's logo or emblem engraved along with the teacher's name and the years he/she worked at the school onto a simple wooden clock. This is an elegant gift and befitting of years of service. For a gift like this a price tag of upwards of $50 should be expected.
