Diamond jewelry makes an excellent gift for special occasions. Diamonds will add life to any outfit and will bring a smile to the face of loved ones. There are many different types of jewelry you can purchase that are made with diamonds, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, pendants, and earrings. Some types of jewelry are more appropriate for specific occasions than others.

Diamonds are made from pure carbon. Their existence on earth began when coal was heated and compressed into carbon crystals over millions of years. Today, diamonds can be made by man, but about 250 tons of ore must be used to produce a single, one-carat diamond. The first diamonds were mined in India, but they are now mined in South Africa, Russia, Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Zaire, and Australia as well.

Choosing Diamond Jewelry

There are many different types of diamond jewelry that can be given as gifts. Diamond rings are usually purchased for engagements, weddings, or as promise rings. So, rings are typically given to show feelings of true love. Other types of jewelry, such as necklaces, bracelets, and earrings can be given to express love as well. However, they may also show feelings of friendship, compassion, appreciation, and other meaningful emotions if you desire.

When you are choosing diamond jewelry, you should look for reputable jewelers and you should notice any red flags you may encounter. For instance, if a jeweler does not let you use a loop to view diamonds or compare diamonds to real color samples you should be skeptical. Jewelers should also give you a receipt with a certificate number, the return policy, and the Four Cs of diamond quality with any diamond purchase.
