Sterling Silver And Diamond Rings

Sterling silver and diamond rings can be somewhat difficult to find as most diamond rings are set in higher quality metals. Platinum, white gold and yellow gold are all far more common than silver when it comes to diamond rings. However, sterling silver and diamond rings do exist and they have their own unique sense of appeal.

The Beauty of Sterling Silver and Diamond Rings

The disparity in quality between the gemstone and the metal is the main reason it's so hard to find sterling silver and diamond rings. In other words, silver is a relatively inexpensive metal while diamonds are the most sought-after and expensive kind of gemstone. It is the less expensive gemstones (i.e. amethyst, garnet, tourmaline, etc.) that are more often found set in silver.

That having been said, it is possible to find sterling silver and diamond rings. Many of these rings tend to be vintage rings as sterling silver was a more popular metal in the earlier part of the century. Even the sterling silver and diamond rings that are created today tend to mirror the vintage style associated with the aforementioned rings since silver lends itself to that kind of setting.

That having been said, don't think that all sterling silver and diamond rings are vintage looking; Hot Diamonds, a popular UK jewelry line, makes thoroughly modern sterling silver and diamond pieces. However, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can always have it created. And you don't have to start from scratch if you don't want to--you can always take the design of another ring done in platinum or gold and then have the jeweler copy it for you in silver.
