Florist Azaleas
Written by Beth Hrusch
When bought from your florist azaleas can be a refreshing addition to your spring bouquet. They have a delicate beauty that reflects their short growing season. Those who are fans of this flowering shrub know that an azalea blooms only for about two to three weeks in the spring, and therefore must be enjoyed while it lasts!
Florist Azaleas
Azaleas can be paired with a variety of spring flowers to give you the first hint of spring in your home. Tulips, daffodils and hyacinth all bloom at about the same time and can be cut and arranged with azaleas for a fresh spring bouquet. You can purchase azaleas from your florist to plant, as well. An azalea bush will give you year after year of blooms for your spring bouquets, and they require a minimum of care.
Florist azaleas are cultivated by a nursery, and are generally not as hardy as other varieties. They do make good houseplants, though, and if planted outside in a temperate zone can do very well. When you buy your azalea from a florist or nursery, make sure you get information on the planting and care of your particular shrub. There are many varieties of azaleas, and all have slightly different needs.
Azaleas Add Color To Any Environment
Caring for azaleas can be a joy to anyone who loves gardening or just loves flowers. Inside the home, azaleas will act as colorful bouquets when in bloom. In the yard, azalea bushes will flood your landscape with bright hues of pink, white, red and purple. When planted as a hedge, they can produce a truly stunning effect.
