Invitations

Beautiful invitations are a symbol of the excitement we feel when thinking about an upcoming celebration, as well as a generous invitation to those we love, asking them to share in our joy. Whether they are meant for an anniversary party, a baby shower, a wedding, or a graduation, invitations bring friends together at memorable and important times. As such, they should be unique, beautiful, and memorable themselves.

Handmade Invitations

Handmade invitations are the epitome of elegant originality. When you choose handmade paper products, stationery or cards, you assert your personal style and flair. Since you are gathering friends and family together to celebrate an event which is important to you or a loved one, it makes sense that you would want to put your unique stamp on every aspect of the gathering. If you are hosting a celebration for another person or for a couple, you can choose handmade paper products that reflect their style, instead.

For example, anniversary invitations should reflect the couple they celebrate. Long, happy marriages are worth acknowledging and celebrating, perhaps now more than ever. If you are lucky enough to have parents who are reaching a milestone wedding anniversary, and you are in charge of organizing their party, treat every aspect of the event with attention and love. The place cards, invites, and every other detail should be high-end and unique.

When you choose handmade invitations and cards, you are given great freedom and creativity. You will have input into the ink color, the style of the card, the design, the lining of the envelope, and the type of paper. Mixing and matching styles can create something wonderfully unexpected and different. For example, you might want to choose an understated card with simple, classic ink and font, then enclose it in an envelope with a wildly colorful floral lining.

When working with designers to create a handmade card, you want to know that you are dealing with the best. Look for experience in both business and art. Creative designers who flake out on you when it counts the most, by sending your bridal shower invitations days or even weeks later than promised, are simply no good. Neither are antiseptic, "all business" businesses, who think handmade can be created on an assembly line.

Ideally, you want a combination of the two. You want to work with a company that understands the stress you are under and the responsibility you have to get what you need, when you need it. But you also want to work with people who have a passion for beautiful, high-end cards and paper. In looking for the perfect combination of the two, many people turn to small, "boutique" businesses.

Handmade Invitations from Small Businesses

Small businesses can give you the attention you deserve. You'll have the comfort of knowing that you won't get lost in the shuffle of a large, anonymous company. Your requests, complaints, praise and questions will all be heard, loud and clear. And best of all, you'll have the sense that the folks who are helping you create your invites and cards are personally committed to making your special day the best it can be. It's as though they are celebrating with you.

With a bit of research into different companies, and a commitment to beauty and quality, you can create invitations that people will treasure for literally their entire lives. Acid free paper means these special cards will be touched and puzzled over by generations to come. When you order your daughter's wedding invitations, remember that you are commissioning a treasure which will most likely be pondered over by her children's children's children.
