Silver heart bracelets have become very popular in the past couple of years. These bracelets have several distinctive traits. They are often made with a heavyweight chain that is around seven inches long and are secured using a toggle clasp. There are a variety of heart pendant styles available. The two most common are the tag style, which can be engraved, and the puffy style heart.

Care of Silver Heart Bracelets

As with any piece of fine jewelry, proper care and cleaning can help your silver heart bracelet last for years. Sterling silver tarnishes over time because the metal reacts with oxygen. However, pieces that are worn on a regular basis, such as bracelets, do not tarnish as much. Tarnish is easily remedied with a small amount of buffing.

Despite this, accidents happen and bracelets do need to be cleaned from time to time. In most cases, you can wash your bracelet with warm soapy water and then dry it with a soft cloth. Then you can buff it again with a polishing cloth to maintain and restore its lustrous shine.

Caution should be taken not to scratch your piece with aggressive polishing. Many people have heard that they can use toothpaste to polish if they have nothing else. This is not advised since many types of toothpaste contain abrasive materials that can etch your silver. As with all jewelry, when you are not wearing your silver heart pendant, place it back in a jewelry pouch or box to protect it and help it last for years.
