Silver Gifts

In every life, there are a handful of moments which are exceptionally important. These moments include exciting rites of passage such as graduations, or Bar or Bat Mitzvahs. Other important life moments include weddings, and of course, the births of children. Wonderful events like these should be commemorated with lasting gifts.

Silver gifts, and engraved silver gifts in particular, are classic items which are made to last. With just a little care, a sterling silver platter or goblet will look as beautiful 100 years from now as it does today. Although silver gifts are usually sterling silver or silver-plate, some are made of the alloy pewter. Pewter items require almost no care at all. They look beautiful without the need for routine polishing.

Sterling silver, silver-plate and pewter items will look beautiful for ages. These are the kinds of items which can, and should, be handed down from generation to generation. These items are usually created with timelessness in mind. Silver candle stick holders, wedding cups, plates and frames are rarely trendy. Instead, they are designed with lasting good taste.

Silver Gifts for Weddings

Weddings are very popular events for giving silver gifts. Silver is given both to the bride and groom, and from the bride and groom to their loved ones. For instance, a bride's parents may give the couple an engraved silver wedding cup. This beautiful cup will be displayed in their home, bearing their names and the date of their wedding.

Parents, grandparents or other close family may also wish to give silver gifts such as champagne buckets, candle stick holders, platters, plates or frames. All of these items can be engraved. A couple can even include these items in their wedding registry. If a couple wishes to decorate their home with many photos of their wedding, as so many young couples do these days, they may want to ask for multiples of a certain silver frame, or frames from a particular silver collection.

Of course, the bride and groom may wish to give engraved gifts to their bridesmaids and groomsmen, as well. Silver bracelets and pendants are popular, as are frames, flasks, or mirrored compacts. Silver trinket boxes also make lovely gifts.

Silver Gifts for Babies

The birth of a child is also an appropriate time for giving the lasting gift of silver. Among the most popular gifts are silver frames. These frames usually hold baby's first photo, and can be engraved with his name and birth date, or all his vital statistics, including weight and height.

Other traditional baby gifts include sterling silver mugs or cups, or silver porringers. Silver spoons are another very traditional baby gift. One of my favorite silver gifts for baby are silver banks. They are pretty and lasting. As the child grows, she'll love dropping coins in her bank. It's fun for kids, and an easy way to start teaching them about the value of saving.
