Crystal Wands

For some, crystal wands are purely decorative. For others, they are an important part of a ritual practice. Chances are if you're drawn to one or intrigued by it, someone who believes in the power of crystals will tell you that that's because the crystals have spoken to you, and that you can benefit from their energies. You don't even have to know why--if the crystals have chosen you, they will bring positive energy into your life.

After all, a crystal wand isn't likely to be an impulse purchase the way a chocolate bar in the checkout line of the grocery store is a whim. Millions of people, if they happened across a crystal wand, would be simply perplexed or disinterested. Some might be fearful and suspicious because they would think of strange tales they've heard about witches, or because they think wands and crystals go with crazy feminist man-hating empowerment movements and they've had a negative experience or built up a negative association with the women who espouse the ideals they think are involved. So if you come across a crystal wand in a store or you see a picture of it on the Internet and you feel curious or excited, that probably means you're meant to have it.

You don't have to know what to do with it right away. Of course, some people will probably want to go out and read up as soon as possible on what the crystals signify and how a wand should be used, and there's nothing wrong with that. Curiosity and information are never a bad thing, but sometimes a little mystery and time for things to evolve are a good thing, too.

The Meaning of Some Common Structures for Crystal Wands

Some wands represent a journey or a process with a beginning, middle, and end. You can have totems or symbols at the ends of the wand which represent where you are starting and where you want to go, and crystals in between which help bring out the qualities that you will need to develop in order to reach your goals. Other wands represent a joining of two elements or aspects, like earth and spirit, or water and air. You can use the wand to help you meditate about the conjunction and the power that you can gain from a place of unity.
