Gifts For Tea Lovers

It's easy to buy gifts for tea lovers, assuming you have all the information you need. Tea drinkers run the gamut from those who love strong, brisk brews in an earthenware mug to those who prefer to sip a perfumed herbal tea from delicate porcelain. Find out which end of the spectrum your tea-drinking friends prefer and then tailor your gifts to their taste.

Buying gifts for tea lovers on the more formal end of the spectrum is especially easy, since there are so many lovely accoutrements. I've found that this variety of tea drinker also tends to be a collector, so a gift of a hand-decorated teacup and saucer or a vintage teapot will be very much appreciated. Sugar bowls, tongs and creamers are also highly collectible.

For the more informal tea lover, go to your local craft fair or pottery store. These days, you can find teacups and teapots in all kinds of funky colors and designs. These bright and witty creations are as much works of art as they are usable tableware. You can also find excellent teapots for any taste in Asian import stores.

Treats for Tea Lovers

Tea time, of course, traditionally includes food. If the gift will be delivered promptly, an assortment of small cookies, cakes and petit-fours will be welcome. If it is to be mailed or otherwise delayed, perhaps a bag of scone mix might be a better idea. And if you live in a city where a high tea is offered at a restaurant or hotel, such an excursion is a real delight.
