Your friends and your family are unique, aren't they? Okay, so maybe in some cases "unique" is a euphemism. They still deserve gifts that recognize their individuality. Here are some ideas for unique gift baskets.

Does your Bubba love his barbeque? You could fill a whole basket just with different kinds of barbeque sauces. Add in marinades, hot sauces, spices, seasonings and rubs, and you'll keep him happily grilling all year long.

The holiday season is murder on diets. But if you know someone who is following the Atkins or South Beach regime, you can give him or her a low-carb gift basket to enjoy without guilt. Cheeses of all kinds, smoked salmon, shrimp pate, smoked meats, jerky and nuts are all permitted on a low-carb diet, and can provide relief from the temptation of candy canes and latkes.

Unique Gift Baskets for Hobbyists

If you know someone who's into scrapbooking, put together a basket with lengths of unusual ribbons, shears that cut scallops or other shaped edges, and markers of all sorts, including glitter and fluorescent. If your nephew spends all his free time playing chess, give him a basket of cookies shaped like chess pieces. Just ask yourself, "What's the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of your sister, your father, your best friend or your boss?" You can probably find a unique gift basket online or make one yourself that will fit each person's character and personality.
