Patek Philippe Watch Bands

You'll find just as much craftsmanship in Patek Philippe watch bands as you will in Patek watches themselves. For well over a century and a half, Patek Philippe has consistently earned high marks in the Swiss watch market thanks to unerring design and flawless beauty. This attention to detail can be found not only in the watches' complications, but even in the straps to which they're affixed.

The watch bands produced by Patek Phillipe correspond with four broad categories of watch. The complicated watch, classic watch, classically elegant watch, and jeweled watch each retains its own appeal and is appropriate for different occasions. Whether you're attending a wedding, a board meeting, or a football game, there's a Patek with your name on it.

Types of Patek Philippe Watch Bands

The Patek Philippe watch bands made for complicated watches (i.e. watches that feature horological complications, not complex watches, per se) tend to feature patent leather, calfskin, and other premium materials. Their understated elegance allows the watch dial or face to shine and never detracts from its overall beauty. A great watchmaker will never allow a gaudy band to eclipse the brilliance of the piece's engineering, design, and finish.

For the more casually elegant Pateks, a rubber or cloth band is perfectly acceptable, as is a metal bracelet. The Aquanaut and Nautilus are two fine examples of casually elegant timepieces that work great with less dressy bands. The same logic holds here: a scaled-down watch should never be saddled with a band that outshines it. At the same time, that band should be worthy of carrying the fine instrument to which it's attached.
