If you head a manufacturing plant, you know time is of the essence. Time is money, right? You want to make as many products as quickly as possible, and deliver them to your customer in the least amount of time. After all, time is money, right? So you want to spend it wisely. Time study analysis could be the tool you need to boost your factory's productivity and increase profits.

Your employees could be working at top speed, running around performing hundreds of tasks. What would they say if you came up with a plan where they could get more done using less time--generating less stress to boot! Time study analysis can uncover "secret" time-wasters: inefficient processes, redundant procedures, or actions that are no longer necessary.

You can analyze the way your company uses its time with process simulation software. Just plot out its processes minute by minute, and you have a map to your factory's daily activities. The most important question to ask is if whether each process adds value to your product or not. If the answer is "not," said process is probably waste that can be eliminated.

It might sound funny, but many people think they don't have the time to analyze how they spend their time. But time study analysis isn't about wasting valuable hours--it can actually help you find "hidden" stretches of time you didn't even know existed. If time is money, time study analysis is akin searching for lost treasure.
