Cabinet Design Programs

Cabinet design programs are very cost effective over the long run. However, until very recently, high quality design programs required a considerable investment. Many cabinet design programs used to start around $3,000--perhaps fine for a commercial woodworking company, but much too expensive for the average carpenter, or especially, the do-it-yourselfer.

Although cabinet design programs in time certainly pay for themselves, back then if one was only planning one or two projects, the investment wouldn't make good financial sense. While they essentially eliminated trial and error, and allowed much faster design time, until recently, many private individuals couldn't justify the initial expense. Fortunately, competition in the carpentry software industry is having an effect, and there are now a few high-quality, low-cost options that exist.

Identifying Good Value Cabinet Design Programs Online

As with other types of comparison shopping, the Internet makes comparing competing products easy. Through the use of windows, one can practically set two competing items side by side on a "virtual counter" and check out the advantages and disadvantages of each. The key, of course, is to know what to look for.

The single most important component in cabinet design programs is the clarity of the image. Three dimensional drawings are critical. Next, check for automatically generated cutlists that include every single wooden part your cabinet will contain, based on your design preferences. Finally, be aware that many fine packages complete with step by step instruction are available for under $500.
