Government records imaging providers can eliminate the uncontrollable amount of documentation that passes through government offices. Take the Department of Disability for example. The number of claims processed by this office on an annual basis is approximately 850,000. Now consider the number of pages of paper that makes up each claim.

Overwhelming Documentation

Included in every claim are medical records and transcripts used to argue for disability benefits. This may be as few as four pages or as many as 250. How does the government handle this immense volume of requests?

One solution would be to implement government records imaging. This would enable the processing of claims via electronic methods. While few hospitals and clinics work with an electronic medical record system, most facilities in the United States are still paper-based. If the documents requested by the government throughout the claim application process are in hard copy form, the claim will originate in paper, making it difficult to manage the influx of documentation pouring into this government office.

Improved Processes with Government Records Imaging

Government agencies can initiate the process of digitally capturing documentation. This would allow for more office space, while making collaboration easier among employees. By outsourcing to an imaging company decades of paper can be eliminated and workflow will improve dramatically. In the case of the Department of Disability, government records imaging would result in faster claim processing and improved distribution of benefits.
