Microsoft Alternatives

Microsoft alternatives have become more popular as the company has faced lawsuits and come under fire for harmful business practices. There are many free software programs that are offered that in many cases can perform the same as a Microsoft product. It is hard to argue with the name recognition of the large company but there are many software providers trying to take a small piece of their business away.

Choosing Among Microsoft Alternatives

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different software products available that act as good Microsoft alternatives. Whether you are fed up with the management of the company or just looking for something different, you can find email, word processing and even designing programs that produce similar results. If you look online you should see a lot of results that you can easily filter down to make the best decision.

One of the larger alternatives is Linux software which has become more popular and transitioned from a developer's tool into software that can be used on a home computer. This software is open source and allows each user to customize the software to include what they are looking for. A large criticism of Microsoft software is that each program contains specialized coding that allows it to run faster on its operating system; this coding may also be blamed for crashes that frequently occur.

Specialized Products

Just taking a look at the list of products that Microsoft offers may be shocking and lead you to believe that they could be the only provider of that software. For example, you may think that only Microsoft would offer an email filter that works with their mail application. However, this is not the case as there are many software companies that offer stand-alone and complementary Microsoft programs that can work better than the Microsoft software that comes with the email package.
