Kazaa is a great resource for computer users, offering people an opportunity to share files and music with one another efficiently. But this doesn't come without a cost. The service is free, yes, but did you know that adware and spyware are prevalent in the service? Every time you access Kazaa, you are actually at risk for infection by these harmful programs.

Kazaa is free because the developers include pop-ups and banner ads in the browser, hoping clients will click on one of them and generate income. If it were harmless, then it wouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately, the program keeps track of your computer use and seems to know to send you ads you might be interested in. This is because it can follow your browsing habits. Kazaa also downloads adware and spyware packages to your computer as well, causing further security issues.

Protecting Your PC from Kazaa Spyware/Adware Threats

Obviously, the first way to protect against the adware and spyware resident in Kazaa is to simply not use the service. But using another P2P (Peer to Peer) service will only give you the same harmful results. If you insist on using Kazaa or its kin, then take steps to prevent dangerous downloads.

Use anti-virus software to guard against dangerous downloads and scan everything you transfer for signs of harmful content. You must also use an anti-spyware/anti-adware program to further prevent dangerous security compromises. The combination of these two security measures is highly effective, and can be set to run constantly in the background so you never even have to think about it.
