Learn To Play Golf

One of the simplest ways to entertain your kids during the summer is to have them learn to play golf. It is surprisingly easy and inexpensive for kids to learn to play golf, and it starts them early learning a skill that many find all-but-impossible to master as they try to pick it up later on in life. You can purchase some used equipment relatively cheaply, get them a few lessons, and find season long junior passes that can save a ton of money. They may be well on their way to becoming the next big thing!

How Can My Kids Learn to Play Golf?

The first thing you want to do is enroll your kids in lessons, finding a pro at your local public course that works with children. Often these lessons can be relatively cheap for kids 12 and under because the courses realize they could be making a customer for life. Your pro can recommend a size and style of club that will best suit your junior golfer, though as they grow you may have to continually upgrade to bigger and better sets.

When your child is in his or her first golf class, you don't need to break the bank in buying a brand new set of the best clubs. Once your pro gives you a general idea of what clubs your child should use, you should be able to find a good set at your local used sporting goods store. You can pick these up for around $100, a far cry from the thousands of dollars the very best would cost you. It is wise to wait before making such a purchase, as they may not take to the game, and if they do, they will grow out of their clubs rather quickly.

So, if you are looking for something for your kids to do next summer, having them learn to play golf can be an attractive solution. Just do a little legwork, and find out what options are available to you. Even if your kids don't turn out to be the next Masters champions, at least they had fun and might pick up an enjoyable hobby for life.
