Folding knives come in all weights and prices, from the slim designer knives to the heavier tactical knives. Many companies put out their version of the classic folding knife, and these can be bought often at a discount at recommended websites. At the most economical end of the scale, Poorman makes a classic rosewood hunting knife with brass bolsters. Poorman's "Rosewood" is one ounce, and measures 2 3/4 inches, closed.

MeyerCo's Folding Knives

MeyerCo manufactures the Speedster SR. This versatile folding knife has an adjustable blade stop. This allows for fine tuning of the open blade and for positive and solid lockup. It opens with a gentle nudge on the ambidextrous thumb stud. It's not an automatic locking system.

The Speedster SR weighs three ounces and you can get it with the standard or partially serrated edge. At the high end, Kershaw Knife Company makes a "Boa," with a 440V stainless steel blade. This pricey, top-of-the-line knife has a black coated blade and a Speed-Safe torsion bar. It has an original wing design and is long at 4 3/8 inches.

Blackie Collins makes the sexy and dangerous "Letter Opener." This folding knife comes in orange or black, with an assisted opening blade with ambidextrous thumb studs. Even the higher priced Kershaw knives are on sale in recommended websites. Check out the discounts!
