Brazilian Bull Rope

Using a Brazilian bull rope during bull riding is a new experience. Sometimes these ropes feel "backwards" until you get used to them. The bull riding rope is what the bull rider holds onto while riding. It's a flat rope that goes around the bull behind the front legs. To ride, bull riders use a bull rope and rosin to improve their grip on the rope, and also bull riding gloves.

The Brazilian bull rope is usually made of braided nylon or grass. The part the cowboy hangs onto is made of braided leather. A cowbell hangs at the bottom of the rope, acting as a weight so the rope falls off the bull as soon as the rider dismounts or is bucked off.

The Suicide Wrap and the Brazilian Bull Rope

Riders wrap their bull rope around the bull and use the rest of the length to wrap around their hand tightly, attempting to secure themselves to the bull. Most bull riders run the rope through the pinky or index finger. With a Brazilian bull rope, however, the wrap is harder to get out of. It's known as a suicide wrap and increases the chances the rider will get hung up in his/her rope.

That's part of what makes bull riding so exciting, and also the most dangerous sport in rodeo. Bull riding requires balance, flexibility, and coordination. It's difficult to face down a two-thousand pound bull and uses as much mental preparation as physical ability. Bull riders need courage!

Misinformation

You're completely incorrect. I ride a Brazilian rope and I can assure you it's nearly impossible to hang up in one. I would like to site many time pbr finals qualifier Aaron Semas in saying the same. And he didn either. In an American rope riders are taught to dismount from their riding hand side. With a Brazilian rope it doesn't much matter. Also the above is true, u cannot take a pinky in ur wrap with a brazilian rope due to the fact that the Brazilian rope pulls from the free arm side. Some people crack me up lol. Get you're facts straight :) have a nice day.

You have your facts all wrong

You have your facts all wrong lady.

What? You cant take a suicide wrap with Brazilian rope. It pulls from the wrong side.
