New York Yankees Memorabilia

New York Yankees memorabilia might be considered the gold standard of the collectibles trade. There is arguably no greater franchise in the history of all the major sports, despite what Boston Celtics, Dallas Cowboys, and Montreal Canadiens fans insist. Twenty-two Yankees have gone into baseball's Hall of Fame as such, while an additional 16 more played for the Yankees at some point in their careers.

Above and beyond the Hall of Famers, however, it's championships that are teams' greatest achievements, and here the Yanks are no slouches. On 39 separate occasions the Yankees have been crowned American League champs, and in 26 of those instances they went on to take the World Series. While the past two World Series squads have bowed to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Florida Marlins respectively, the Bronx Bombers still lay claim to four titles in the span of five years (1996-2000).

Popular New York Yankees Memorabilia

One of the distinguishing traits of New York Yankees memorabilia is that, unlike that of other franchises, it resides on one long continuum over years and years of excellence from the ball club. Thus, one is likely to find Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Don Mattingly, and Derek Jeter team jerseys in any given crowd of Yankees fans. There is no Golden Era from which the majority of the team's memorabilia originates.

Today's New York Yankees memorabilia centers on its young stars, even if those stars are now considered veterans by league standards. Jeter, along with Bernie Williams and Mariano Rivera (just to name a few) are staples of any collector's card, photo, or autograph set. Moreover, given the Yanks' acuity at spotting "farm" talent, it's a safe bet that the next crop of stars will have an equally rabid following.
