Camping Vacations

Camping vacations are ideal for nature lovers, students, couples and families on a tight budget who want to explore the country. Of course, people have some very different ideas about just what constitutes camping. Depending on just how much you love nature and just how rough you think is roughing it, you can design camping vacations that won't hurt your wallet, but will still give you as much comfort as you require.

Families often enjoy taking camping vacations together for a number of reasons. First, there are the traditions of camping: the fireside storytelling, roasting hot dogs or marshmallows, and making s'mores. Then, there are the activities you can do during the day; typically locations that are great for camping are also perfectly suited to rafting, biking, hiking, climbing, or swimming.

Annual Family Camping Vacations

Another great thing about family campgrounds is getting to meet other people. Many families make an annual tradition of returning to the same site, and kids keep in touch with their summer camping friends all year round. If you get to know some other families, you can share responsibility by alternating who takes the kids on an adventure or supervises them at night while the other adults can have a little time to themselves to pursue more challenging outdoor adventures or have a romantic walk alone.

You can also consider camping in an RV, for a little more comfort than a tent provides. You can find campgrounds in state parks or in other beautiful areas, where you can not only park your RV but take advantage of some sporting or dining facilities, as well. Some campgrounds even offer cabins with bathrooms and kitchens, which may not constitute a purist's definition of camping, but may suit you just fine.
