Mystic Seaport was founded in 1929, and is today the leading maritime collection of boats and ocean photography in the country. Every year, millions of tourists who travel to Connecticut take time to visit the seaport and learn all about our nautical history and how it shaped our culture. Volunteers who believe wholeheartedly in the whole maritime experience basically run Mystic Seaport.

When planning your trip to Connecticut, you might want to consider which attractions you will want to see. If you know that Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium are on your list of 'must see' places, then it may be beneficial for you to choose an inn or hotel in or around Mystic. When you choose a bed and breakfast in Mystic Connecticut, you can be sure that you will get the true New England experience.

Most bed and breakfast inns have some sort of historical significance, which means that you can take a step back in time when you travel to Mystic. Your accommodations are likely to be very comfortable, with period furnishings and art, as well as lots of Yankee hospitality. You will be able to enjoy the beauty of a seaport community while experiencing a bit of history and education in the process.

Visit the World-Famous Mystic Seaport

When you walk around the seaport, you will notice that many of the volunteers are dressed in period costumes, which only adds to the rich historical feel of Mystic. You can learn how ships were made over a hundred years ago, how crewmembers survived long passages, and what the main sources of commerce were. It's a great draw for history buffs and an interesting stop for those with children as well.
