Some of the famous Cuban handicrafts are black coral jewelry, from the black coral reefs, and African-inspired wood carving.

Wall hangings and necklaces from native Cuban seeds and shells are getting more and more valuable. Traditional Cuban musical instruments, such as bongos, maracas and guitars, are sought-after for their craftsmanship. And of course, Cuban cigars are famous the world over.

Any source of information about Havana, Cuba will show you where to tour a cigar factory. Make sure that your cigar purchases have a label declaring them to be hand-made, as well as an official government seal, so that you can take them out of the country. Perfumes and colognes can be bought at the Suchel Camacho company, and vintage rum can be bought from Duty Free outlets.

Havana, Cuba information will direct you to the lively street markets. There are wonderful fruit, vegetable and flower markets (mercados agropecuarios) in every neighborhood, as well as a daily handicrafts market behind the Castillo de la Real Fuerza. Trinidad's markets are famous for embroidered linen and cotton.
