Explore the Big Island if you have a taste for adventure, rejuvenation, and the aloha spirit of ancient Hawaiian ways. All inclusive Big Island vacation packages can be booked to suit all budgets and styles, allowing you to amend your package to include tours and activities of interest to you. The Big Island's Kona coast is a likely place to start your trip, being the major resort area on the island.

Explore the Big Island--Kona and Beyond

The small, leisurely town of Kailua-Kona on the leeward side of the island is blessed with warm sunny weather most of the time. Kailua Bay is the site of numerous boating activities, parasailing, swimming, and diving. Kona is perhaps known best for its coffee, which grows on the hills rising above the town.

The Kohala district, including Waimea, is a must-see if you want to explore the Big Island. Waimea town is a veritable tribute to the pianolo (Hawaiian cowboy) way of life. It's home to plenty of western wear shops and rodeos that celebrate this part of Hawaii's heritage; cattle ranches have long dominated the Kohala plains.

Hilo is the largest city and business center on the Big Island, and you'll want to head here if you need a convenient base from which to explore the spectacular Volcanoes National Park. The Hilo Farmer's Market is a great chance to buy some fresh produce, exotic plants, and other goodies the Big Island has to offer. While each person coming here wants to explore the Big Island as thoroughly as possible, its a good idea to plan some activities before you arrive to maximize your time on this incredible island.
