Hawaii has long been thought of as one of the most romantic places on earth. That is why it continues to be one of the most popular spots for honeymooners and couples celebrating anniversaries. However, over the years, much of Hawaii has begun to cater to families. This has been wonderful for tourism, but it has taken a bit of the romance out of the islands.

Kauai managed to remain almost completely undeveloped until the 1980s. Since then, however, the island has added several resorts, shops, and activities in order to attract more tourists. Most of the island is still in its natural state, and it is still an incredibly romantic locale. However, more families have begun to visit the island's shores, and many of the resorts are not nearly as private as they used to be.

Escaping the Crowds

One of the best ways to enjoy a vacation in Kauai is in a private rental. These condos and beach houses are usually set apart from the major resort hotels on the island. Many of the units open onto private beaches where guests can spend the day soaking in the sun with out fear of being disturbed.

Rentals in Whaler's Cove, on the Kiahuna Plantation, and the Poipu Shores enjoy some of the most spectacular views in all of Hawaii. Green mountains meet sparkling blue ocean, and the sun's beauty is only rivaled by the moon's reflection on the water. Private rentals in these locations provide many of the same luxuries that can be found at the finest hotels, so vacationers don't have to sacrifice anything.
