Some of the most memorable holes on the big island are found in Waikoloa golf courses. Waikoloa is another island resort with some fabulous courses sitting at its core. The resort itself is set along a 30-mile stretch of lava fields, considered by Hawaiians to be very sacred and powerful.

Waikoloa Golf Courses

Waikoloa Beach Course is one that you will try for years to accurately describe to your friends. It winds through one of Hawaii's biggest rock-carving (petroglyph) fields, passes by an ancient burial cave or two, and there's even an ancient fishing village. A little taste of history as you play your way through the course can be very inspiring and empowering.

Waikoloa Beach Course is also quite memorable for a few of its holes--spectacular reasons to play Waikoloa golf. The 12th hole takes a dramatic curve revealing the majestic Pacific Ocean on either side. This is an aspect of the course that any golfer who has ever played it will never forget. For a bit of a mysterious aspect, the 10th hole bends around lava piles which block the golfer's view of what turns out to be a lush green.

After you've "ooh-ed" and "ahh-ed" your way through this course of Waikoloa golf, be sure to satisfy your hunger at the 19th hole. The Beach Grill is a delicious lunch or dinner treat after a long day of resort island golfing. The Calamari Steak Sandwich is to die for.
