Ravenna Italy accommodations, unfortunately, are not as great as her attractions. Despite its rich heritage, multiple sources report that top-drawer in town lodging can be hard to come by. As a result, the most attractive Ravenna Italy accommodations may actually be found outside the specific city limits.

Fortunately, there are some relatively convenient alternatives for Ravenna Italy accommodations. There are many charming hamlets, not to mention coastal areas, within an easy drive of this one time capitol of the Roman Empire. Most neighboring communities have at least one nice hotel that would make for an acceptable--and possibly preferable--option.

If Roman history and beautiful medieval churches interest you, then it's worth the trip to Ravenna, Italy. Ravenna was famous originally for being the home of Augustus Caesar's strongest fleet in the Roman Empire. It was, in fact, the very capitol of the Roman Empire. But then Rome fell and the Byzantines moved in. Ravenna then became best known for her multiple Byzantine churches and mausoleums, decorated with what are considered the finest mosaics in the world. And thanks to Ravenna being closed in many areas to auto traffic, walking the streets and exploring her historic nooks and crannies is a real pleasure.

Another nice attraction Ravenna has to offer is the Punta Marina de Ravenna. Referred to as one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, it has soft white sand and tall pines. And if nightlife is your thing, this strip of coastal beauty is lined with restaurants and clubs which stay open very late.
