Boynton Canyon owes much of its popularity to its proximity to Sedona. Sedona is considered by many to be the very best of all the Arizona vacation spots. Its incredible beauty, and reputation as an ancient and holy place, a spot of "good energy," makes Sedona the favorite destination of many people who seek to rejuvenate, heal, or simply to relax.

Boynton Canyon is probably the most popular canyon in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness. You can find great hiking here. The views are awesome. The Sinagua tribe once populated the sandstone cliffs of this idyllic canyon. Wildflowers cover the ground, and there are wooded areas in Boynton Canyon in addition to its rock formations.
