The City of Gatlinburg is located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. It's a city committed to excellence with a goal of promoting both the natural beauty of the area and the tourism that allows the city to grow. The city conducts special events throughout the year, beginning with Winterfest which lights up the city with a Fantasy of Lights.

Gatlinburg Attractions

Some of the great places to visit in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area include Christmas Gardens, Motion Ride Theater, Camp Thunder, Ripley's Aquarium, Sweet Fanny Adams Theater and Music Hall, and the World of Illusions. Horseback riding, golf and miniature golf, fishing, tennis, and swimming are all available as well. Fine dining, theater, craft fairs, and plenty of outlet mall shopping are great ways to spend a vacation day or two.

There are several kinds of places to stay in Gatlinburg. In addition to great resort hotels, locally owned hotels and motels, lodges, bed and breakfast inns, condos, and cabins and chalets, there are campgrounds both near the city and in the nearby national park. Whichever type of lodging visitors select, they will have easy access to all of the fun the city provides.

Small Town Flavor

Gatlinburg is a small town that retains its wonderful flavor, despite its commitment to tourism. Very family-oriented, Gatlinburg's festivals, fairs, and other activities are a delight for children and adults alike. Under 4,000 people call Gatlinburg home all year long, but it's a big town when visitors join in the fun.
