Holiday Vacations

Everyone wants a vacation to be a wonderful experience, especially when it is a family vacation. More and more people every year are taking vacations that do not revolve around a major theme park. It seems that spending great quality time with loved ones in a place conspicuously devoid of cartoons or raucous, loud music is an appealing option for many--instead, these families are spending time in a place where it's still possible to find peace and quiet, along with natural splendor and family activities.

Gatlinburg Holiday Vacations

One such place is the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area. Located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg offers dozens of ways to take a great vacation. Families, couples, and groups can rent cabins or chalets, stay in beautiful lodges or bed and breakfast inns, pick a resort hotel or a motel near the city, rent a condo, or camp in or near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Gatlinburg, one of the premier vacation destinations in the Southeast, boasts year-round activities for families and honeymooners.

The Annual Winter Fest is a four-month citywide festival that celebrates the magic of winter, Smoky Mountain style. Over six million lights, displays, and family-oriented activities have made the Winter Festival the Southeast Tourism Guide's "Festival of the Year" three different times. The Fourth of July is amazing. There is a midnight parade downtown with lighted floats, marching bands, and giant balloons. A glittering fireworks display lights up the majestic mountains skyline.

Christmas in the Mountains

Thanksgiving is the start of a Smoky Mountain Christmas, with the opening of the annual Gatlinburg Christmas Market. There, entertainment is provided daily on stage by the Great Victorian Amusement Company from Sweet Fanny Adams Theater, a major attraction in Gatlinburg. Santa listens to the dreams of young shoppers, while exciting performers dazzle the crowds. After the shopping, families can return to their cabins and celebrate the holidays like never before. Add in Dollywood's Christmas Festival and New Year's Eve fireworks, and the memories will last a lifetime.
